Gaza Rocket Attacks Demonstrate Hamas Commitment to Terror

New York – March 18, 2010 – AJC warned that the recent spate of rocket attacks against Israel from Gaza is an ominous sign that the Hamas regime remains committed to its strategy of terror.

“In the last week, southern Israel has again been plagued by Qassam rockets fired by terrorists in Gaza,” said AJC Executive Director David Harris. “Today, we mourn the Thai agricultural worker killed in the latest attack. It is vital that the international community not be distracted from the real challenges in resolving this conflict, most immediately the need to bring these terrorist attacks directed by Hamas to an end.”

After Israel fully disengaged from Gaza in 2005, thousands of rockets were fired at Israel from the territory, ultimately leading to the IDF’s month-long defensive operation against Hamas in December 2008.
