AJC Radio Message: Take Action on Energy Security

March 16, 2010 – New York – AJC Executive Director David Harris in his national radio commentary on the CBS radio network, urges listeners to demand action by Congress on energy and to also take personal steps for energy efficiency. LISTEN.

All AJC radio commentaries since 2001 are available at www.ajc.org.

The full text of this week's commentary follows: Are you concerned about America's national security? Our economy? Our environment?

So are we.

That's why AJC has been a leader in urging greater energy security.

Our efforts have been recognized by the EPA and the Set America Free Coalition.

We've urged our elected officials to show leadership and courage on energy.

And by our own careful energy use, we've encouraged others to do the same.

For example, we were the first non-profit agency to offer our staff cash incentives to buy fuel-efficient cars.

And we're seeking "green" certification for our headquarters.

Greater American energy security would be transformative.

In fact, it could be a trifecta.

We could stop boosting oil-exporting nations that aren't our friends.

We could keep more dollars and jobs at home.

And we could help our environment.

Tell your elected officials: We want action on energy now.

And please: Set your own personal example.
